Juliana Leahy, RMT
Juliana graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in Vancouver in 1989. She practised in a busy clinic in North Vancouver for 12 years while also building a successful private, mobile business in the bustling Vancouver Film Industry. She left that clinic in 2001, bringing her practice in to her home, opening up more time to help care for her elderly parents, still maintaining her work in the film industry.
She and her husband moved to the Comox Valley in June 2013. She first heard about Ingrid Watermann while working at the King Fisher Spa and Resort during her first summer. She happily started with Ingrid in the fall of 2013 at IDaySpa and now, currently, with the same great team but with a new name, Body Craft Therapeutics, in Comox.
Juliana truly feels that Massage Therapy has been her calling. It feeds her passion for human connection, preventative health care, and healthy, active living. She is always looking for new ways to access muscle recovery by researching new stretches and exercises she can pass on to her clients. She and her client work together as a two person team. She finds that educating her clients empowers them. She works with her clients, where ever they are physically and honours each person’s unique journey to health. She starts where the client’s body allows and goes from there, stretching and easing the soft tissues in ways that both respect and challenge their condition. She specializes in deep tissue and myofascial releasing, and will often include reminders for breathing, lengthening, and relaxing. She actively takes courses and blends her many years of learning and experience in to her unique style.
She has been active all her life, and can often be seen on her orange road bike cycling down the roads and highways of the Comox Valley with a huge smile on her face. She has cycled across Canada, around New Zealand and participated in the Ride to Conquer Cancer twice; if she can help others by riding, she’s in.
Aside from raising two amazing daughters, she feels the move to the Valley was the best thing she and her husband have ever done. One of her favourite places for walking is the Goose Spit, especially with their two dogs Billie and Bobbie.
Jane Podmore, RMT
Jane graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy (WCCMT) Victoria campus in 2008. Having completed 3000 hours of training and dozens of continuing education courses and workshops, she brings a well rounded approach to her treatments. She is registered with the College of Massage Therapy of BC and is a member of the Massage Therapy Association of BC.
Jane takes a holistic, preventative approach to massage therapy. Treating the body as a whole, rather than a series of individual parts, can have profound effects. With a firm yet nourishing touch, clients can expect a treatment that is both deeply therapeutic and deeply relaxing.
Mixing positional relief, movement, stretching, and deep tissue techniques, with relaxing swedish massage, her treatments aim to relieve pain and tension, restore balance, and help clients feel more at ease in their bodies. Jane enjoys working with clients through all stages of their lives; from young athletes, active adults, pregnant and postpartum families, to seniors and their care givers. She knows first hand that life can get challenging and believes massage therapy is one of many tools that can help clients find balance through stressful or painful periods in their lives. Regardless of what draws clients in to see her, her goal is to empower them with a better understanding of their bodies and the health challenges they’re experiencing.
At Bodycraft Therapeutics Jane provides an inclusive, body-positive space that is open to everyBODY. Patient comfort is always her highest priority. As such, she is always there to listen and learn, ensuring every session is client led. With a keen interest in chronic pain, women’s health, healthy aging, PTSD, anxiety, and other mental health conditions, Jane is here to help you achieve your health goals.
In her spare time, you’re likely to find Jane, along with her husband, their two kids and their loyal family pup, enjoying all that this beautiful Island has to offer us. If she’s not trail running, mountain biking, beach walking, skiing or surfing, she’s probably puttering in her garden.
At Body Craft we offer Professional Grade Skin Care Treatments for a wide variety of Skin Care imbalances and goals.
